These are the file's own built-in outline, not a browser bookmark.Every PDF reader has a "Bookmarks" or "Outline" panel down the side — this tool edits exactly that list, the same table of contents the PDF format itself already carries, not anything specific to this site. Add, edit or remove entries and every PDF reader picks up the change immediately. Your file is only ever handled in memory here, never written to our disk.

Long reports and manuals are much easier to navigate with a clickable table of contents in the sidebar. Upload the PDF to see what's already there — often nothing — then set the title, level and page number for each entry you want and download the file with a working outline.
Level controls indentation and nesting in the bookmarks panel, the same as heading levels in a document: level 1 is a top-level chapter, level 2 sits nested underneath it as a section, level 3 nests under that, and so on. A level-2 entry always belongs under the nearest level-1 entry above it — that's how PDF readers build the collapsible tree you see in the sidebar.
Most PDFs — especially ones exported from a word processor — already carry bookmarks. Upload the file and every existing entry is listed with its title, level and page number pre-filled, so you're editing what's there instead of starting over. A PDF with no table of contents yet just shows an empty list, which is normal, not an error.
Your PDF is processed entirely in memory on our own machine and handed back in the response — it is never written to our disk for this tool, and nothing is kept afterwards.
