Two kinds of crooked, both fixed
A crooked scan is usually one of two things: the whole page was shot at an angle (perspective), or it is only slightly rotated so the text tilts (skew). ScanReviver handles both, detecting the page corners for perspective and levelling small tilts so lines of text run horizontally.

How to straighten a scan
- Upload the photo or scan (JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC).
- In the full scanner, check the detected corners and drag them onto the page if needed. The box above uses the detected corners as they are.
- For a sideways or upside-down page, use Rotate left/right in the full scanner.
- Preview to confirm the text runs level, then download JPG, PNG or PDF.
Straighten, then clean
Straightening pairs naturally with cleanup: once the page is square, evening out the lighting and whitening the background makes a much bigger difference. Continue with clean a scanned document or enhance a scan. To flatten a page shot at a steep angle, the same corner detection does the work, and in the full scanner you can drag the corners yourself.
ScanReviver improves readability; it does not use generative AI and never rewrites text, changes numbers, edits dates or recreates signatures or stamps. Very dark shadows, text hidden under a finger, glossy glare and severe blur can still look imperfect, so always check the result before you rely on it.

Does it straighten automatically?
It detects the page and corrects perspective and small tilts automatically, and in the full scanner you can drag the four corners to fine-tune before downloading. Crop and straightening happen together in one pass.
Can it rotate a sideways page?
Yes, in the full scanner: use Rotate left or Rotate right to turn a sideways or upside-down page in 90° steps, then drag the corners to crop. The quick box on this page does not rotate.
What if auto-detection misses the page?
In the full scanner you place the four corners yourself by dragging them onto the page; the crop and straightening then follow your corners.
Is it free?

How can I straighten a scanned document or photo online for free?

Can I straighten a PDF scan?
The upload has to be an image, so to straighten PDF scan pages, turn them into images with PDF to JPG first, straighten those here and export them as a PDF again.
How do I straighten a crumpled or torn scanned document?
Flatten the page as much as you can before photographing it. The tool corrects the angle and perspective, but it can't unwrinkle scanned document pages that were still creased or torn in the shot.
Does straightening happen before OCR?
Yes. Every page is squared up first, so if you tick OCR it always reads an already straightened page.
Can I straighten scanned photographs from an old print?
Yes, as long as the print's edges are visible in the shot: the same corner detection squares it up, whether the picture shows a document or a family photo.
Can I scan photo online and straighten it in one go?
Yes. Upload the photo and the page is detected, squared up by perspective correction and levelled in the same pass, so you do not need a separate step for the angle.
How do I straighten a document that was photographed at an angle?
Upload the photo and check the four corners. Perspective correction maps them back onto a rectangle, and any small tilt left over is levelled so the text runs horizontally.
Does straightening scanned photographs also fix their colours?
No. Straightening only squares up the shape and angle of the picture. Faded or yellowed colours stay as they are.
Is there an OCR feature to straighten out pages?
