Enhance a scanned document online
A quick phone scan is usually good enough to keep, but rarely nice to read: the page sits at an angle, the corners of the desk sneak in, one side is dim, and the text looks soft. ScanReviver enhances it: trimming to the page, squaring it up, balancing the light and sharpening the detail, then saves a tidy image or PDF. It's free, works right in your browser, and needs no account.

Enhancing isn't one magic button; it's a handful of small, honest adjustments you stay in control of:
- Crop to the page: the four corners of the document are detected automatically, and you can nudge each one so the desk, fingers and background disappear from the frame.
- Fix perspective and straighten: a page shot from an angle is warped back to a proper rectangle, and any small tilt is levelled so lines of text sit horizontally.
- Even out the lighting: uneven brightness is balanced across the page to reduce shadows and lift a dull, grey background toward white, which improves readability.
- Sharpen and whiten: edges of the text are crisped up and the paper is cleaned toward a bright, even tone, so a fuzzy snapshot starts to look like a real scan.
- Export: download a JPG, PNG, or a PDF (single page or multi-page), and optionally add a searchable text layer so you can find the file later by its words.
Pick the output that suits the page
Different documents want different treatment, so you choose the look before exporting:
- Colour: keeps the original colours intact for letterheads, coloured forms and highlighted notes, while still flattening the lighting.
- Clean: pushes the background toward near-white for that proper scanned-in feel; the safe all-rounder for everyday printed text.
- Black & White: maximum contrast and the smallest files, made for plain text you intend to print or archive.
Have several pages? Add them all, put them in the right order, and download one combined multi-page PDF instead of a pile of separate images.
Frequently asked questions
Does enhancing cost anything?
No. Enhancing your scans is free and needs no account. The ads on these pages cover the running costs.
Will it make my blurry text readable?
It helps: sharpening and even lighting make soft text easier to read, and that improves readability. But it can only work with detail the photo actually captured; it won't invent characters that a heavy blur has erased, and it never changes or recovers the words themselves.
What happens to my files?
Your original upload is deleted right after processing. The enhanced result stays available briefly so you can download it, then it's deleted automatically — and you can remove it at once with the "Delete now" button. Files are never used for AI training and are never sold or shared.
Can I get a searchable PDF?
Yes. When you export to PDF you can add an optional text layer, so the document's words become searchable in your PDF reader.
Honest limitations
ScanReviver improves readability; it does not certify or authenticate documents, and it never rewrites or recovers the text on the page. Very dark shadows, glare, motion blur and anything hidden under a hand or object may still look imperfect after enhancing — evening out the lighting reduces shadows, it doesn't erase them. If automatic page detection is off, you set the four corners yourself. It sharpens and tidies what the camera saw; it can't add detail the photo never captured.
