A report that needs page numbers before it goes out, or a document that has to continue the numbering of a printed original. Set where it starts and where it sits, and every page gets numbered. Nothing is re-compressed — the existing text and images are untouched.

Numbering continues, page by page

The first page gets your start number, and every page after it counts up by one. A 12-page file starting at 5 ends on page 16 — useful when this document picks up where a printed original left off.

Four positions to choose from

Bottom centre is the common default for reports and books. Bottom left or right keep the corner clear for other stamps; top centre suits a running header instead of a footer.

About your file

This tool works entirely in memory and hands the result straight back in the same response — there is no copy sitting on our server afterwards, because none is ever written.

Numbering a document you are about to send out? Add a watermark first if it also needs a CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT stamp. Only need to number part of a bigger file? Split PDF pulls out the range first.

Common questions

How do I add page numbers to a PDF?

Drop the PDF in, set the start number and position, and press Add page numbers. The download has a number printed on every page, counting up from the start you chose.

Can I start numbering from something other than 1?

Yes. Type any start number — useful when this file continues a document that was already numbered up to a certain page elsewhere.

Where does the number go?

Bottom centre by default. Bottom left, bottom right and top centre are also available.

Does it renumber existing page numbers already printed on the page?

No. It only adds a new number; it does not detect or remove numbers that were already part of the page content.

Does adding numbers reduce the quality?

No. Only a small number is added to each page — the existing text and images are untouched.

Is there a page limit?

25 pages per file. There is no account, no watermark and no daily cap.
